Questions

Things people ask before they book.

Do you take insurance?

Right now I work privately: you pay me directly, and I can give you a superbill to submit to your plan for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies, so check with your plan. Medi-Cal is in progress. If you have it, ask me where that stands.

What does it cost?

Individual sessions are $175 for a 50-minute session. Couples sessions are $225. Private intensives start at $950 for a half day. You get a Good Faith Estimate before we start.

Where are you located, and can you see me if I live outside California?

I see clients by video who are physically in California during session. My license is a California license, so I can't provide therapy to someone located in another state. I'm glad to refer you.

Are you taking new clients?

Yes. If I'm full when you reach out, I'll say so and offer a waitlist or a referral.

Do you work with trauma?

Yes. It's the center of my work, including complex and long-standing trauma. I have advanced training in complex trauma and I'm trained in EMDR and the Flash Technique. You set the pace, and you don't have to retell everything for the work to help.

I've done lots of therapy. Will this feel different?

It might. I don't spend long on explaining, because most of my clients can already explain themselves well. We use that and then work on what explanation hasn't reached, usually through the body and the nervous system.

What is EMDR? What is the Flash Technique?

EMDR is a structured therapy that helps the brain reprocess difficult memories so they stop feeling as present. The Flash Technique is a gentler method that lets you reduce the intensity of a memory without having to go into it in detail. I'm trained in both, and we'll only use them if they suit you.

I'm a therapist. Can I see you?

Yes. Many people in helping roles need a place to be the client. I won't treat you as a colleague in session, and we'll talk on the first call about boundaries if we know each other professionally.

Is video therapy private?

I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, not a consumer app. You'll need a private place on your end. Please don't forward session links.

What happens on the free call?

Fifteen minutes. You tell me what's going on and what you hope will change. I ask a few questions, including a quick safety check, and tell you honestly whether I'm the right person. If you want to go ahead, we schedule a first session.

What's a private intensive?

One to three days of focused work, with preparation beforehand and two follow-up sessions after. Read more here.

Can you travel to me for an intensive?

Within California, yes, to a private and quiet space that you arrange. Travel and lodging are extra. Outside California, I can't provide therapy, but I'm happy to discuss consulting or training for your team.

What if I'm in crisis between sessions?

I'm not able to respond in an emergency. Please call or text 988, or go to your nearest emergency room.

What's your cancellation policy?

Please cancel or reschedule by 3:00 PM the day before your appointment. Later cancellations and missed sessions are charged at the full fee. If something truly unexpected comes up, tell me.
